Jims Log 911 HOWDY! My name is Jim Caraway, and this is my "log" where I sit, spit, whittle and think. My family and I lived for 33 years in what was once beautiful Austin, Texas. Unfortunately, our fair city has been ruined by dot-commies, developers, realtors and other e-holes; but, if you like high rent, road rage and traffic jams you'll love Austin. We moved in June, 2004 to a lovely small town in South Texas called East Bernard, which is about 50 west of Houston and also where our daughter lives with our two granddaughters. It's a joy to be close to family and in a slowed down, relaxed environment. I am a retired professional engineer, and started using computers in 1975 with the Altair.

Over the years I've accumulated a number of written items which have inspired, motivated, provoked, pleased or displeased me in one way or another, and one of the purposes of this web site is to share some of these with others. It is not my intention to show any bias toward or against anyone or any group, but if I inadvertently do so it is without malice. Therefore, please flavor everything here with a little sense of humor. And, if anyone has something they would like to share, send me an Email, and if I can work it in at some future update, I'll try to do so. With credits, of course. By-the-way, the caricature of me is by Kevin.
So then, feel free to browse the various pages with links as shown below, especially Mimi's Cookbook. Remember, however, that this site will constantly be "under construction" so, visit often. God bless.

Jim's Gems
JimsGems
This page is where I hope to enable the viewer to see and hear some of the "better" (in my opinion) emails that are constantly circulated through the internet, often being forwarded over and over again by the various recipients. As you well know, much of this stuff is trash, but occasionally, a real "gem" comes along. These I will call "Jim's Gems" (but without implying ownership.) Happy viewing. Oh, BTW. Keep checking this page for updates.

CARAWAY Genealogy
I have been working on writing a personal Journal (of my life) for the past few years. I had some information on the Caraway line to start with, but through the marvels of the Internet I've been able to trace my family history back to 1619 in York, North Yorkshire, England. In fact, I've found enough web sites about the Caraways that I am starting a repository of URLs pertaining to the Caraways right here. If you have any you can add please let me know and I'll post 'em for all to use. Click HERE for latest list.

Born before 1945?
Sit back and relax and read about "The Way It Was . . ."

Spiritual Thoughts
Have you ever wondered what this "religious thing" was all about?. Is there really a hereafter? A God? Have you ever been confused about all the conflicting forces with which you are constantly assailed from every hand? If any answer is "yes" I just might have something for you to consider. Try my "Blueprint for Life."

Need a "Thought for the Day?"
I collect things, like a pack rat. I especially like to collect "sayings", like inspirational thoughts for the day, sayings I can tack up on my desk, or things which come up on my PC screen when I log on. A brief ray of sunshine in an often dreary world. Hope you enjoy these selections."

Thank you for visiting JIMSLOG.
